Development of information society in Montenegro
Being the leading broadband provider in the country, Crnogorski Telekom has been given the responsibility of being the country’s first partner on its way to becoming an information society. In order to enable the internet to become a part of everyday life for the majority of Montenegrin citizens, the company initiated several projects, partnering with relevant bodies and organizations – the Montenegrin Government, educational institutions, NGOs, etc. For the fourth year in a row, Crnogorski Telekom is enabling free internet access via ADSL to all elementary and high schools in the country. During 2010 around 150 Montenegrin schools benefitted from this. The project was implemented together with the Ministry of Education and Science.
Together with the Government of Montenegro, the Company initiated a project aimed at increasing the level of IT literacy and internet penetration in Montenegro.
The project started in 2008 and is planned to last until 2012, with the goal of enhancing computer literacy, increasing the level of knowledge and internet usage, raising the general level of awareness of the importance of the internet and promote the information culture in Montenegro.
During 2011, Crnogorski Telekom enabled Montenegrin citizens and foreign visitors free of charge usage of WiFi internet on approximately 20 locations throughout Montenegro, including territory of National parks as well. In cooperation with the National parks of Montenegro, the company will continue to cover national parks locations with WiFi internet , in order to enable its visitors a more pleasurable stay while admiring natural beauties.
